what's the 411..


  Mary J Blige was taught by her father to sing who abuse her mother and by the time Blige was four her father left. at the tender age of five Blige was sexually abusive by a family friend and by the time she was almost finish in high school she dropped out. Blige big break came when she was in the local mall singing one of Anita Baker hits "Caught up in he Rapture" and her steph father played the cassette for Jeff Redd a recording artist for Uptowns Records. In 1989 Blige was signed to the label becoming their first youngest and first female to ever be signed to the recording label. In 1992 Blige made her first hits "what the 411"?, you remind" and real love just to name a few. Between the years off 1994-1998 Blige made hit after hit making number one hits across he billboards and making appearances on many shows. But it was not until the late 90's where Blige announced she was at the same time dealing with long time use of drug addiction, alcoholism, and depression. Also being abuse by her boyfriend K-CI Hailey of Jodeci. Later that year she won a Grammy for the sound track Waiting to Exhale for the song "No Gon' Cry" along with other platinum hits. Growing up Blige face with many obstacles that she has over come for the better. Being abusive by drugs and love one has made Blige an stronger and wiser person.
